Oval "Gentleman's" Teapot - Made in the USA

$40.00

This is an Oval Teapot made of Tin Plated steel often called tin ware. This pot is also referred to as a Gentleman's Teapot. Commonly used from around 1840 to 1880. It is a nice 19th Century Reproduction. Fully functional and ready to use to brew your favorite tea.

It measures 5 1/5 inches high, 3 1/2 inches wide and 9 1/2 from handle to spout. It holds 3 1/2 cups of water to the top but probably would function much better with 2 or 3 cups at a time. You can brew your tea directly in the pot (that's why the spout is attached near the bottom, tea leaves generally float) or you can use a tea ball for less mess.

A few things to remember about using tin ware for cooking:

If used over a fire do not put the spout in the flames. It's best to use a grate and keep the teapot on the edge of the heat.

DO NOT LET THE TEAPOT BOIL DRY! You and it will be much happier if you keep liquid in it while using.

Hand Wash and dry the Teapot. DO NOT PUT IN THE DISHWASHER

If you decide to store your teapot for a bit, give it a light rub with food grade mineral oil on a cloth. Your teapot will last for many years of service if taken care of properly. Your teapot will naturally get a darkened patina with use.

Teapot is made right here in Missouri by Colleen in her Tin Shop.

Keep in mind tin items are tin plated steel. They will develop a patina and get a bit of rust or oxidation especially along seams. Just clean with a soft cloth and some non-scratch soft cleanser.
