Fort Ligonier Crescent Canteen

$50.00

This is a Reproduction of one of the 14 crescent canteens excavated at Fort Ligonier in Ligonier, Pennsylvania. Fort Ligonier was a British fortification used from 1758 to 1766 during the French and Indian War.

It is made of tin plated steel and lead free solder. It measures 8 1/2 inches in height, 4 1/2 inches in width (5 1/4 inches if you count the lugs) and 3 inches in it’s depth. It holds 36 ounces or 4.5 cups. It comes with a cork and a 6 foot length hemp rope shoulder sling.

This canteen comes lined with beeswax so it's ready for service.

Suitable for the French and Indian War, Revolutionary War and Civil War time periods.

Hand Wash and dry the canteen. DO NOT PUT IN THE DISHWASHER. Do not put hot liquids inside, cold drinks only!

If you decide to store your canteen for a bit, give it a light rub with food grade mineral oil on a cloth. Your canteen will last for many years of service if taken care of properly. Your canteen will naturally get a darkened patina with use.

The Canteen is made right here in Missouri by Colleen in her Tin Shop.

Keep in mind tin items are tin plated steel. They will develop a patina and get a bit of rust or oxidation especially along seams. Just clean with a soft cloth and some non-scratch soft cleanser.
